Sunny Sunday

A sunny Sunday! We deserve it. The grey skies this past week maybe were just a little too grey for it to feel really springy...perhaps with winter holding on, maybe we all have been procrastinating a little too? Spring is a season of creation and development. This is the time you may look at your life and make a new plan. Consider what you want to clear out of your environment and within yourself (spring cleaning, if you will...) Now is the time to create space and allow for new energy, ideas and growth in our work, relationships and lives.

Why not put the sunny Sunday boost to good use and kick off your week by getting outside and enjoying the spring time. Take a walk on the seawall - or maybe even strap on your runners and go for a jog. Breathe deep and enjoy the view!

Think GREEN - Kick the coffee habit and give green tea a shot once and for all. The populated list of health benefits from green tea is too many to ignore! A killer immunity booster, it can help cancer, rheumatoid arthritis, high cholesterol levels, cardiovascular disease, infection, and even tooth decay. It has also been used as a medicine for 4000 years in China (everything from headaches to depression) It still has caffeine, so you get the a little jolt, but less of the crash that coffee provides.
Spring Salads! Revitalizing and light. By loading up on healthy greens these 2 qualities will mirror themselves in how you feel.

I had some great events to list over the past weekend, sadly I was offline due to a melted cord phenomenon on my macbook :(
Hoping that some were able to get out to the Portobello West Market, or the Blim* community market that took place today. Check the links to see future dates - if you're into shopping local, these events aren't to be missed.
*Blim is an amazing little workshop located at Main & 17th. Pretty much daily, there is a workshop or drop in class where you can make your own screen prints, knit, attend life drawing class and much more. Very fun, funky and inspiring.

Lucky 13

Typically, Friday the 13th is a day we associate with bad luck, but as this one falls just around the corner from St.Patty's Day - I'd like to think we have the luck of the Irish on our side. Whether fortune favors you or not, keeping a positive attitude will help you generate your own "pot of gold" so to speak. Manifest your own luck using these 4 principals:
1. Pay attention to your intuition.
2. Be resilient, even when bad luck strikes. Seeing the positive and realising things could have been worse, helps turn bad luck into good.
3. Don't be afraid to disrupt your daily routine and create more fortuitous happenings.
4. Always expect a positive outcome.

So trust your instincts, find hidden benefits in a setback, take a different route to work, and expect the best -- You might just get lucky :)

With the falling temperatures over the sunny weekend, a wintry crispness was in the air forewarned of the blanket of snow covered the city this morning. Nursing a winter injury? At this time of year, many people return from the slopes with injuries. Amongst the most common injuries are those to the knee ligaments. The result may be swelling, pain, feelings of knee instability and joint clicking. You may also not be able move your knee properly or run. These injuries don't always resolve without help, and may be serious. Acupuncture is an excellent holistic way to treat injury and help bring your body back to balance. Vancouver boasts a unique energy, an enthusiasm for health and wellness thrives in a lot of us and we are driven to be our best selves; Mind, Body and Spirit. In our growing city, resides an auspicious and diverse population. We are blessed with having access to an amazing outdoor playground right here in our backyard. Puddle jumping, seawall strolls, afternoons on sunny patios and sipping lattes, are among our favorite pastimes. Charming galleries, lively venues and great little boutiques, are sprinkled throughout our city, demonstrating the passion and creative spirit in each other and our local artists. In a collaborative effort, Get Glowing hopes to shed a little light on healthy living, beauty, fashion, arts, events and Vancouver lifestyle.
